How do I put my PC to Sleep, Shutdown, Restart and how do I modify these settings in Windows 8? 

    To put your PC to Sleep, Shutdown, Restart or Hibernate, follow the steps below:

    1. Move your mouse from the top or bottom-right corner of the screen, and then click on Settings charm from the Charms bar.
      Note: If you’re using touch screen, swipe in from the right-corner of the screen, and then tap Settings charm from the Charms bar.
       
    2. From the Settings charm, click Power, and then select the option (Sleep, Shutdown, Restart, Hibernate) you want to do with your PC.
       

    If you are not able to see the Sleep or Hibernate option from the Power menu, you can modify the menu to add these options by following the steps below:

    1. Move your mouse from the top or bottom-right corner of the screen, and then click on Search charm from the Charms bar.
      Notes:
      • If you're using touch screen, swipe in from the right-corner of the screen, and then tap Search charm, and then Settings.
      • You can also use the keyboard shortcut: <windows> key + W. 
         
    2. From the Search textbox, type “power button”, From the Search Results, click on Change what the power buttons do. The System Settings window is displayed on the desktop screen.
    3. From the System Settings window, click Change settings that are currently unavailable.
       
    4. Under the Shutdown settings, check Sleep and Hibernate option if you wish to display it on Power menu, and then click Save changes button.
