What is Fast Startup and how can I configure it in Windows 8?
Fast startup is a setting that helps your computer starts up faster after shutdown. Windows does this by saving system info to a file upon shutdown. When you start your computer again, Windows uses that system info to resume your computer instead of restarting it.
- Launch Charms by placing the cursor to the top right hand or bottom left hand corner on the desktop,
- Select Settings.
- Select Control Panel.
- Select System and Security.
- Select Power Options.
- Select Choose what the power buttons do.
- Confirm that there is a checkmark next to Turn on fast startup (recommended). Place a checkmark in this field if it is uncheck and select Save changes.
